Baseball & Softball Pants Guide
Baseball, Softball & Tee Ball pants come in a variety of styles and fits. The best choice often comes down to personal preference, unless your club, association, or team has specific uniform requirements.
Belt Loop vs Drawstring
Drawstring pants are commonly used in Tee Ball and Softball, where a belt is typically not required. They are generally more economical and easier for younger players to manage.
Belt loop pants feature loops around the waistband designed to hold a belt, creating a more traditional baseball uniform appearance.
Elastic Bottom vs Open Bottom
Elastic bottom pants have an elastic cuff at the ankle, creating a snug fit around the lower leg. Open bottom pants have a straight leg opening with no elastic, resulting in a looser fit around the ankle.
Elastic bottom pants are less likely to require alteration, as any excess length tends to gather above the ankle. Open bottom pants may need hemming if they are too long.
Relaxed Fit vs Tapered Fit
Relaxed fit pants provide extra room through the thighs and calves, offering greater comfort and freedom of movement.
Tapered fit pants have a slimmer cut that gradually narrows towards the ankle, creating a more modern, athletic appearance.
Knicker vs Full Length
Knicker pants finish just below the knee and are typically worn over baseball socks to create the traditional baseball look. They feature an elastic cuff below the knee.
Full length pants extend to the ankle, similar to standard trousers.
Both styles are widely accepted, and the choice is usually based on personal preference.

Women’s Pants
Women's softball pants are specifically designed to better suit the female athlete, featuring a lower-rise waistband and a cut that provides a more comfortable fit through the hips and legs. Most fastpitch softball players wear 3/4 length knicker-style pants with softball socks, creating the traditional fastpitch appearance seen at all levels of the game.
Sizing and Length
Baseball and softball pants are in youth and adult size ranges. There is some crossover in waist sizes, for example a youth XXL has a similar waist measurement to an adult medium but the adult pants are much longer.
Most styles feature an elastic waistband that provides some flexibility and comfort.
Pant lengths are generally one length fits all, so some players may need alterations to achieve their preferred fit. Check the size guide for each brand and style.

Belts
Adjustable elastic belts are the most popular and economical option. They feature a sliding metal buckle that allows the length to be easily adjusted while providing comfortable stretch and freedom of movement.
We also stock faux leather belts, which are supplied in a fixed length. These belts feature a removable buckle, allowing the belt to be cut to the desired size. Faux leather belts are commonly worn in several Asian baseball markets, including Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.
