Wilson's A2000 and A2K are two of the most respected premium baseball glove ranges available. Both are designed for serious players and use high-quality leather, but there are some important differences in the materials, construction and feel.
The A2000 has been a favourite among professional and competitive baseball players for decades, while the A2K represents Wilson's premium glove range, featuring specially selected leather and additional craftsmanship.
So what makes the A2K more expensive, and is it worth the difference?

Both ranges are available in different sizes, patterns and web designs for infielders, outfielders, pitchers, catchers and first basemen.

The Wilson A2000 is one of the most established premium baseball glove ranges in the game.
Made using Wilson's Pro Stock Leather, A2000 gloves offer excellent durability, structure and the ability to develop a personalised pocket through the break-in process.
The leather is firm enough to maintain its shape through regular competitive use while gradually becoming more comfortable as it moulds to the player's hand.
A2000 gloves are available in a wide selection of patterns and sizes, making them suitable for players across virtually every position on the field.
For most competitive baseball players, an A2000 provides everything they need from a premium glove.
The Wilson A2K is Wilson's highest-grade baseball glove range.
The major difference is the leather. A2K gloves use Pro Stock Select Leather, which Wilson selects from the top 5% of hides after a triple-sorting process to identify leather with desirable qualities of softness, consistency and durability.
A2K gloves are manufactured in Japan by specialist glove craftsmen and feature Double Palm Construction.
This involves placing an additional thin layer of leather between the outer palm and the inner lining, helping the pocket maintain its shape and providing additional stability.
The result is a premium glove with a carefully formed pocket, consistent leather quality and excellent long-term structure.
Although the A2K receives additional factory shaping, it still requires a proper break-in to develop the player's preferred pocket.
Both the A2000 and A2K are excellent baseball gloves, and choosing between them largely comes down to personal preference and budget.
The A2000 is already a professional-quality glove and is more than capable of meeting the demands of competitive baseball.
The A2K offers additional refinement through its leather selection, Double Palm Construction and manufacturing process.
These differences may appeal to experienced players who are particular about the feel and structure of their glove.
However, the A2K is not automatically a better choice for every player. A properly fitted and broken-in A2000 may be more suitable than an A2K with a pattern or fit that doesn't suit the individual.
Our advice: Choose the glove that feels right on your hand and has the correct pattern for your position. The model and fit are generally more important than simply choosing the most expensive glove.
Selected Wilson A2000 and A2K gloves feature Spin Control Technology, identified on many models by the SC prefix in the pattern number, such as SC1787.
Spin Control uses a distinctive dimpled texture on the leather in the palm and web.
This textured surface is designed to increase friction between the ball and glove at the moment of contact, helping reduce ball spin and improve control when fielding or receiving pitches.
Spin Control is available on selected models rather than across the entire A2000 and A2K ranges.
Selected A2000 and A2K gloves are also available with SuperSkin, a lightweight synthetic material used on portions of the back of the glove.
According to Wilson, SuperSkin is approximately half the weight of Pro Stock Leather while offering twice the durability.
It is also moisture-resistant and easier to clean than traditional leather.
The reduced weight can be particularly appealing to outfielders using larger gloves, although infielders and other players may also appreciate the lighter feel.
SuperSkin does not replace the leather in the catching pocket. The palm and other key catching surfaces retain the premium leather associated with the A2000 or A2K range.
Some Wilson models also feature SuperSnakeSkin, a textured variation of the SuperSkin material.

If you're deciding between an A2000 and an A2K, consider how the glove fits, your playing position and how you prefer your glove to feel.
An A2000 is an excellent option for players wanting a premium leather glove without paying the additional cost of the A2K.
An A2K may appeal to experienced players who value the additional leather selection and craftsmanship.
Whichever range you choose, selecting the correct glove pattern and taking the time to break it in properly will have a significant influence on how it performs.
