The Rawlings 2027 Icon -8 USA Baseball Bat is designed for stronger junior players who are ready to move into a heavier bat while still wanting the large sweet spot, balanced swing and comfortable feel of the Icon.
Featuring a two-piece composite construction, the Icon uses Rawlings' In/Tense Carbon Composite technology to create a large, responsive barrel while maintaining excellent weight distribution. The result is a premium composite bat that provides plenty of hitting surface while remaining controllable through the zone.
The -8 weight differential adds more mass behind the baseball than the lighter -10 and -12 versions. For players strong enough to handle the additional weight without sacrificing bat speed, this can provide greater momentum and more authority through contact.

Who Should Use the Rawlings Icon -8?
The Rawlings Icon -8 is best suited to stronger junior players who can comfortably handle more weight than a -10 without sacrificing bat speed, barrel control or good hitting mechanics.
Moving from a -10 to a -8 adds two ounces at the same bat length. For a player who is ready for the additional weight, the extra mass can help generate greater momentum through the hitting zone and more authority at contact.
The -8 also provides a useful progression towards the heavier -5 and eventually -3 bats players may use as they advance through baseball.
Players should aim to use the heaviest bat they can comfortably control while maintaining good bat speed. If moving to a -8 causes the player to become late on pitches, drop the barrel or lose control of the swing, remaining with a -10 may be the better option.
